Pioneers Score Late to Upend Mustangs, 3-1
|
The Mile High Mustangs went down to defeat to Tony Velázquez and his Vancouver teammates. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Pioneers. The win was credited to Carlos Solís in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Kenkichi Kodo took the loss. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu notched his 6th save in 7 chances.
Armando Espinoza hit a run-scoring double off Amirtharaj Nagaraja in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Pioneers in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Espinoza had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.
In postgame comments to the Vancouver Observer, Velázquez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Vancouver.
