Colonials Clip Sasquatch in Tight Contest
|
The New England Colonials did just enough to sneak past the Seattle Sasquatch, 2-1, at Skellington Stadium. New England pitcher Juan Martínez earned player of the game honors. New England reliever Juan Salinas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Garth Daniels took the loss. New England is now 48-54. Seattle is 41-61.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New England second baseman Donald Latulippe, facing Garth Daniels, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Colonials the 2-1 win.
Martínez called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
