Islanders Win at Rubber City, 5-3
|
The Hawaii Islanders topped the Rubber City Rhinos, 5-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Rubber Grounds. The player of the game was Hawaii pitcher David Guzman. Guzman went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 13-2. The Islanders bumped their record to 64-42 with this latest triumph.
Katsuhiko Shimizu was a key contributor to the win for the Islanders. In the top of the second with one out, the light-hitting shortstop stroked a single to center. He went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI.
"David is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Hawaii manager Leland Ray.
