Multi-HR Day for Corte as Hops Overpower Earthquakes, 14-11
San Diego catcher Ricardo Corte made his presence felt in the 14-11 Hops triumph over the San Francisco Earthquakes. Corte was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The win was credited to Naomi Kobayashi in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Eric Markle took the loss. Mitsuzuka Koyama notched his 18th save in 23 chances.

Corte had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 changeup from Eric Markle, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Hops a 13-11 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Corte.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Randy England.

The 5th-place Hops are now 42-60, the Earthquakes 34-69.
