Armada Need Extras to Top Aces
|
Quebec starter Luis Mendez pitched effectively against the Las Vegas Aces at Sin City Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Quebec reliever Greg Rojas got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Naizen Uchiyama was tagged with the loss. The third-place Armada are now 51-52, the Aces 35-64.
The Armada got a big at-bat from catcher Roger Pynn. For the game, Pynn went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 28th hit of the season gave Quebec a 4-2 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Quebec manager Jorge Morales.
