Leeder goes 3-for-4, Marauders Move to 67-33
|
The Maple Marauders topped the Portland Beavers, 6-2, in Thurman Munson League action at Waterfront Park. The player of the game was Maple second baseman Gerard Leeder. Joey Steamer got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 0. Hariz Sahir got the save, his 20th in 22 chances.
The Marauders got a big at-bat from right fielder Angel Barajas. For the game, Barajas went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 82nd hit of the season gave Maple a 4-2 lead.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Barajas.
The first-place Marauders, at 67-33, now lead their division by 9½ games.
