López, Earthquakes Manhandle Hops
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes buried the San Diego Hops, 17-0, under a barrage of hits. Juan López led the onslaught, going 3-for-4 for San Francisco. Carlos Estrada got the win, improving to 7-8. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Even with the win, the Earthquakes have a dismal 34-67 record.
López had a key at-bat for San Francisco early in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and gave San Francisco an early 3-0 lead.
"The Earthquakes definitely had our number," said San Diego manager Randy England.
