The Rubber City Rhinos picked up a win at Bomber Ballpark, knocking off the South Carolina Bombers, 5-4. Starting pitcher Bob Ruíz, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 7.1 innings, Ruíz surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The 4th-place Rhinos now have a 4-game winning streak.
Billy Joel, who is tied for 5th in the RCL in stolen bases with 36, aided the Rubber City cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Joel said.
