San Francisco right fielder Harry May was a significant contributor in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Portland Beavers. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for San Francisco. Eric Markle picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Juan Quezada was tagged with the loss. Eddie Rosado notched his 3rd save in 6 chances.

Had Hisaji Maekawa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Maekawa hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Earthquakes.
