Republic Clip Islanders 3-2 in R3 Contest
|
The So Cal Republic topped the Hawaii Islanders by the score of 3-2 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the League Pennant today. The largest share of the credit went to player of the game and So Cal starter Elias Bowen, who threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball in the win.
Had Juan Villa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Villa hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Republic.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Bowen told reporters after the game.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Aloha Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Felipe Rodríguez for the So Cal Republic and Ehrich Weiss for the the Hawaii Islanders.
