Almost There: Pacifica On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 8-4 Win
The Pacifica Shamrocks moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Rock River Rats at McCormick Field by a score of 8-4. Shamrocks left-hander Grant Huffman was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Shamrocks a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Double A World Series.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman Conrad Zijlstra drew a walk. The Shamrocks went on to win.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Zijlstra told the Pacifica Daily. "It's as simple as that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Pat Beckett for the Rock River Rats and James Stevens for the the Pacifica Shamrocks.
