Freeze Hammered by Kline, Drop Game 6 to Cats
|
The Fort Worth Cats and the Minneapolis Freeze will take the Triple A World Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Cats beat the Freeze 6-5 at The Ice Box to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Fort Worth right fielder Curt Kline was named player of the game in the win after he was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs.
Tied up with the Freeze in the top of the fourth inning, the Cats got a boost from catcher Yoriyuki Tanaka. With a runner on 1st, Tanaka saw a 1-0 changeup from Andrew Johnson and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Fort Worth on top, 2-0.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Kline told the Fort Worth Today.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Aurelien Bonello for Fort Worth and Jorge Olivo for Minneapolis.
