Rhinos Top Republic 4-2 to Begin R2
|
The Rubber City Rhinos started the Divisional Championship in style today, winning on the road against the So Cal Republic at House of the Republic by a score of 4-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rhinos center fielder Oscar Costales was named player of the game after he went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs.
Rubber City shortstop Billy Joel helped the Rhinos go up, 2-1, in the top of the third inning. With the game tied, Joel hit a run-scoring double off So Cal pitcher Tanner Johnson.
"Feels good to get the job done," Joel said after the game.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at House of the Republic. Slated to start are Sigfrid Arnim for the Rubber City Rhinos and Elias Bowen for the the So Cal Republic.
