Beckett Handcuffs Wolverines, Rats Seize 4-2 Advantage in R1
|
The Rock River Rats moved to within one game of the Double A World Series today, downing the visiting Wichita Wolverines at The Rat Hole by a score of 4-3. Rats right-hander Pat Beckett was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Rats a 4-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Double A League Championship.
Rock River grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bill Heller delivered a 2-run double, to make it 4-2 in favor of the Rats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Heller told the Rock River Gazette.
