Bloomington Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R2
|
The Bloomington Blazers got a strong performance from pitcher Pedro Vazquez, who stymied the visiting Maple Marauders en route to a 5-3 win in Game 3 of the Divisional Championship today. The Marauders could never get a bead on the right-handed Vazquez, who threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball to earn player of the game honors. The Blazers now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Had Levi Meeuwenberg not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Meeuwenberg hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Blazers.
Meeuwenberg called the triumph "a good team win."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Arson Arena. Slated to start are Umarah Abdul-Quddus for the Maple Marauders and Victor Hernandez for the the Bloomington Blazers.
