Garcia Handcuffs River Chiefs, Mustangs Seize 4-1 Advantage in R1
|
The San Angelo Mustangs are one game away from a sweep after a 8-3 win over the visiting Chippewa River Chiefs at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium today. Mustangs right-hander Dan Garcia was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. San Angelo now holds a 4-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Single A League Championship.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the third, with the game tied, Jake Sandlin was at the plate when San Angelo scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Mustangs to go in front, 3-1.
"This was a good win for us," said Garcia. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
