Young Handcuffs River Chiefs, Mustangs Seize 2-1 Advantage in R1
|
The San Angelo Mustangs got a strong performance from pitcher Sam Young, who stymied the visiting Chippewa River Chiefs en route to a 5-3 win in Game 3 of the Single A League Championship today. The River Chiefs could never get a bead on the right-handed Young, who threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball to earn player of the game honors. The Mustangs now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Jose Ledezma aided the San Angelo cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Ledezma.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in San Angelo. The scheduled starters for the game are Cesar Prado for Chippewa and David Benitez for San Angelo.
