Steiert, Princes Wallop Kings in Game 5 of R1
|
The Bel Air Princes have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Atlantic City Kings, winning 11-8 at Philip Banks Field today. Princes designated hitter Wayne Steiert was named player of the game after he went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Princes to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Single A League Championship.
Bel Air first baseman Aaron Kelch helped the Princes go up, 4-2, in the bottom of the third inning. With the game tied, Kelch hit a 2-run double off Atlantic City pitcher Sergio García.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Steiert told the Bel Air Today. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday in Atlantic City. The scheduled starters for the game are Han-soo Lee for Bel Air and Vinny Caballero for Atlantic City.
