Varmits Score Late to Upend Pirates, 4-2

Yuma pitcher Eddie Taveras did his part in helping his team beat the Paradise Island Pirates, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Taveras picked up the win for Yuma, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-5. Chris Van Arsdale was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
Had Cameron Eaves not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Eaves hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Varmits.
