Cardinals Lose, 3-1, at The Nutcracker Suite
|
The Nutcracker Suite was the site of a competitive game between the Montreal Cardinals and Normal Nutcrackers.
Montreal got a terrific performance from pitcher Juan Amaya, but it wasn't enough to beat the Normal Nutcrackers. Normal won the The Nutcracker Suite contest, 3-1. Amaya was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Normal reliever Jin-yu Kim picked up the win, upping his record to 7-4. Juan Amaya absorbed the loss. Nick Clouse converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Normal took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, right fielder Bill Touchet hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Touchet said after the game.
Normal leads the Cecil Fielder League Fred McGriff Division by 7 games.
