Curry Powers Varmits to 4-1 Win
The Yuma Varmits topped the Victoria Totems, 4-1, with first baseman Willie Curry playing a big role. Curry went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Varmits in the win. Yuma reliever Jonathan Frias was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Steve Pickering took the loss for Victoria. Brian Claphan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

Curry contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Yuma in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Curry took a splitter from Steve Pickering and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Varmits to leap in front, 2-1.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Yuma skipper Adam Haddox.

The Varmits bumped their record to 30-24 with this latest triumph.
