Patrick Moran was the difference-maker for the Montreal Cardinals in what turned into a shootout with the Yuma Varmits. Moran earned the player of the game award after going 3-for-5 in the 10-9 Cardinals win. David Pensabene earned the win to go to 1-2. He allowed 5 earned runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts. The Cardinals bumped their record to 34-18 with this latest triumph.

Moran contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Montreal in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Moran took a forkball from Eddie Taveras and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Cardinals to leap in front, 3-1.

"Feels good to get the job done," Moran said after the game.
