Tribbles Get One-Run Win at Yuma
|
The Rosewell Tribbles got a stellar performance from pitcher Vicente Zavala, who handcuffed the Yuma offense en route to a 2-1 win at The Range. The winning pitcher was Zavala, now 5-2. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Bryan Jackowitz earned the save for Rosewell, his 9th of the year.
Bobby Wilson, who is tied for 4th in the CFL in home runs with 18, aided the Rosewell cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder was 2-5 with a double.
Afterward, Tribbles manager Anthony Mays was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Tribbles improved to 23-24.
