Nutcrackers Turn Back St. Paul, 4-2
|
It was a good time at The Nutcracker Suite, where fans came to watch the St. Paul Grognards and Normal Nutcrackers get after it.
The Normal Nutcrackers dealt the St. Paul Grognards a 4-2 loss at The Nutcracker Suite. Daniel Pumarejo was the star on offense. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Andy Kelly sewed up the save, his 9th.
Bill Touchet drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate, while scoring 2 runs for Normal. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Steve Steenburg. It was his 20th RBI of the season.
In postgame comments to the Normal Daily, Touchet said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Normal is now 26-13, 2 games up in the Cecil Fielder League Fred McGriff Division.
