Victory Over Totems Takes Montreal to 23-12
|
It was a fun time at Denis Coderre Stadium, where the Victoria Totems and Montreal Cardinals tangled.
The Montreal Cardinals had to overcome a big game from Victoria designated hitter Alex Esparza to leave Denis Coderre Stadium with a 5-3 victory. Esparza was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Montreal reliever Juan Amaya picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Steve Pickering took the loss. Gabe Perkins earned the save for Montreal, his 5th of the year.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Patrick Moran. For the game, Moran went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Montreal a 4-3 lead.
Moran called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Cardinals bumped their record to 23-12 with this latest triumph.
