The Yuma Varmits trumped the Montreal Cardinals, 8-3, at The Range. Yuma left fielder Manny Partida was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Hector Martinez picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 6 in 6.2 innings. The Varmits bumped their record to 9-9 with this latest triumph.

Yuma took a 6-3 lead on Aaron Washington's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Washington hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Franklin Liz shaking his head.

In postgame comments to the Yuma Herald, Washington said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
