Martin goes 4-for-4, Nutcrackers Move to 14-5

The Normal Nutcrackers downed the Lumber Kings, 8-4, at Epic Park. The Nutcrackers were led by Mat Martin, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Reliever Jim Capek picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Dave Castro took the loss. The Nutcrackers have an impressive 14-5 record.
Had Daniel Pumarejo not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Pumarejo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Nutcrackers.
