Totems Turn Back St. Paul, 6-5

The Victoria Totems eked out a 6-5 win versus the St. Paul Grognards at The Thunderdome. Nobody did more than catcher Robert Gartz, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Erik Fletcher, who threw 98 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits. Colin Hoffer got credit for the save for Victoria. It was his 2nd of the year.
Gartz contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Victoria in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Gartz took a fastball from Danny Moreno and stroked the home run to left-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Totems to leap in front, 4-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gartz told the Victoria Bulletin.
Victoria is now 6-9.
