Yuma left-hander Hector Martinez pitched his team to a shutout win, 3-0, over the Sedona Sabercats. Reliever Brian Claphan picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Kyle Lavole took the loss. With their winning streak at 5, the Varmits have raced to a strong start this season.

Yuma won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Kyle Lavole on the mound for Sedona, second baseman Jonathan Fitzwater hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Varmits fans to their feet.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Fitzwater. "And not try to do too much."
