Marauders Rally Past Blazers to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Maple Marauders took the first game of the Divisional Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the Bloomington Blazers in a ninth-inning, walk-off, 10-6 win. Marauders right-hander Ángel Vázquez was selected player of the game, as he was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times.
Jordan Smith was the walk-off hero for Maple. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Marauders shortstop hit a dramatic grand slam home run to send the teams home.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Vázquez told reporters after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Legends Park. Slated to start are Landy Lu for Bloomington and Héctor Zúńiga for Maple.
