Rail Riders Bang Out 9-5 Win Versus Tunica
|
It was a fun time at Murderer's Row, where the Tunica Diamonds and Augusta Rail Riders tangled.
Rail Riders shortstop Luis Valdez put his stamp on his team's 9-5 win over the Tunica Diamonds. Valdez went 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times for Augusta in the contest. Augusta reliever Francisco Varela picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-4. Anthony McDaniel was collared with the loss. Cory Hoffman converted his 4th save in 5 tries.
Andreas Dawson helped out the Augusta cause in the bottom of the first inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the Augusta Times, Dawson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Their 27-31 record puts the Rail Riders 5th in the Prince Fielder League John Mayberry Division.
