Bomberos Jolt Scorpions with Late Rally

The El Paso Bomberos defeated the Scottsdale Scorpions, 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Travis Covert, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. El Paso reliever Danny Minor was credited with the win, to go to 6-4. Brad Harr took the loss for Scottsdale. The Bomberos bumped their record to 28-26 with this latest triumph.
Had Brent Biernacki not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Biernacki hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Bomberos.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Biernacki said.
