Diamonds Jolt Suenos with Late Rally

Tunica beat Santa Barbara at Clam Jammer Dome, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Danny Suarez, who earned player of the game honors. Tunica reliever Vicente Banderas was credited with the win, to go to 2-4. Steve Paul took the loss for Santa Barbara. Vic Horn, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Had Antonio Navarrette not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Navarrette hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Diamonds.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Navarrette said.
The second-place Diamonds have won 4 in a row.
