Scorpions Come Back Late to Clip Rail Riders
The Scorpions faced a stiff challenge from Augusta pitcher Gabriel Renteria, but persevered to claim a win at Murderer's Row. The final score was 3-2. Renteria went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Dave Francisco picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-5. Cory Hoffman was tagged with the loss. Steve Higgins finished to wrap up his 16th save.

Bryce Pope aided the Scottsdale cause with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4 with a home run.

Pope attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."

Scottsdale is now 22-29. Augusta is 23-28.
