Scripps Field was the site of a competitive game between the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas and Tunica Diamonds.
The Tunica Diamonds downed the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 5-3, at Scripps Field. The Diamonds were led by D.J. Schulte, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. Leo Mendoza, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. Vic Horn earned the save, his 9th, for the Diamonds.
Schulte had a key at-bat for Tunica early in the game. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Tunica an early 1-0 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Schulte.
The Diamonds bumped their record to 22-21 with this latest triumph.
