Bombers Win at Bloomington, 6-5
|
South Carolina beat Bloomington at Arson Arena, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Sotatsu Hayagawa, who earned player of the game honors. Hayagawa got the win, improving to 5-11. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. Hayagawa allowed no earned runs. South Carolina occupies third place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 49-43.
Zhao-ying Gai, who is tied for 8th in the TML in hits with 111, contributed to the South Carolina win with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hayagawa. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
