Las Cruces wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Danny Mena, losing to Tunica, 1-0, at Clam Jammer Dome. Tunica reliever Joe Campton got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Danny Mena was tagged with the loss. Vic Horn earned the save for Tunica, his 4th of the year.
The Diamonds got a big at-bat from third baseman David Fernandez. For the game, Fernandez went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Tunica a 1-0 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Fernandez said after the game.
The Diamonds sit in 4th place in the Prince Fielder League John Mayberry Division with a record of 14-16.
