Fans at Peccary Park were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Las Cruces Javalinas take on the El Paso Bomberos.

The El Paso Bomberos topped the Las Cruces Javalinas, 7-2, in Prince Fielder League action at Peccary Park. The player of the game was El Paso shortstop Juan Tapia. The winner was El Paso reliever Sonny Hunter, now 3-0. The loser was Carlos Romero.

Tapia went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 against the Javalinas. With the game tied in the top of the fourth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that scored 1 and put El Paso in front, 2-1.

"We take it day by day here," said Tapia, "and today was a good one for us."

The Bomberos improved to 13-14.
