Javalinas Sneak Past Bomberos, 3-2
|
The Las Cruces Javalinas got a good effort from starter Ray Shumaker in defeating the El Paso Bomberos at Peccary Park. The final score was 3-2. Las Cruces reliever Aaron Green was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Jonathan Salas took the loss for El Paso. The Javalinas improved to 11-15.
Tim Cox, who is tied for 6th in the PFL in stolen bases with 6, chipped in for Las Cruces with a solo home run in the bottom of the 16th. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 7 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Shumaker told a Las Cruces Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
