Fighting Iguanas Lose, 6-4, at The Back Draft
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Juan Estevez, the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas suffered a 6-4 loss to the El Paso Bomberos. Estevez was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. El Paso reliever Sonny Hunter was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Gary Compton took the loss for Boca Raton. El Paso, now 10-9, holds 4th place in the Prince Fielder League Tony Fernandez Division.
Jacob Hathaway drove in one run for El Paso. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gary Compton. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Hathaway said after the game.
