Santa Barbara pitcher Ricardo Castillo gave the Scorpions all they could handle, but in the end, Scottsdale left Dream Park with a 4-3 win. Castillo allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings. The winner was Scottsdale reliever Steve Higgins, now 2-0. The loser was David Guyer. Scottsdale now sits at 6-10, while Santa Barbara falls to 6-10.

Sergio Salazar drove in one run for Scottsdale. The 19-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ricardo Castillo. It was his 7th RBI of the season.

"It was a solid team effort," said Salazar after the game.
