Fighting Iguanas Score Late, Upend Revenge, 5-4
|
Fans who came to The Drunken Wench Stadium watched the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas and the Barbados Revenge fight to the finish.
The Barbados Revenge got a sterling performance from pitcher Chris Durkin, but the Fighting Iguanas still prevailed, 5-4. Durkin was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Boca Raton is now 7-8.
The Fighting Iguanas got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jorge Navarro. For the game, Navarro was 1 for 2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Boca Raton a 5-4 lead.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Navarro told a Boca Raton Observer reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
