Late Rally by Bomberos Secures Win
|
The Bomberos faced a stiff challenge from Barbados pitcher Ricardo Jarquin, but persevered to claim a win at The Back Draft. The final score was 3-2. Jarquin went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Danny Minor got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Bomberos, now 9-3, have been on a roll in the early going.
Had Jesus Hinojosa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hinojosa hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bomberos.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Barbados manager Rafael Castillo.
