Islanders Get Road Win, 4-1
|
Hawaii turned a good effort from starter Ehrich Weiss into a win over the Santa Fe Fuego at The Fire House. The final score was 4-1. The win was Keith Martin's in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Juan Mendoza took the loss for Santa Fe. Winston Boer got the save, his 5th in 9 chances.
Had Ryan Lewry not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Lewry hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Islanders.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Weiss said.
The Islanders bumped their record to 56-36 with this latest triumph.
