Fort Worth Wins at Home to Take 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Fort Worth Cats faced a tough opponent in Bowling Green Racers pitcher Alain Picard, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Triple A League Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Cats won 5-1 at LaGrave Field, despite the Racers getting a strong start from right-hander Picard, who went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run.
Jamie Milligan aided the Fort Worth cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Fort Worth manager Walt Dobson.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Jonathan Burton for the Bowling Green Racers and He-ping Wang for the the Fort Worth Cats.
