New England Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-1
The New England Colonials have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Havana Stogies, winning 4-1 at Skellington Stadium today. Colonials right-hander James Akehurst was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Colonials to 3-1 in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.

New England took the lead with two out in the bottom of the first when Jeff Mitchell stroked a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-0 in favor of New England. For the day, Mitchell went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Mitchell told the New England Bulletin.

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow in Foxborough.
