Oakes, Havana Start Divisional Round Strong with Home Win
The Havana Stogies started the Divisional Round in style today, downing the visiting New England Colonials at The Humidor by a score of 5-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stogies second baseman John Oakes was named player of the game after he belted 3 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 4.

Oakes's nice game included a clutch 2-run home run in the bottom of the first.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Oakes said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are John Spracklin for New England and Félix Ruíz for Havana.
