Blazers on to Divisional Championship
|
The Divisional Round may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Bloomington Blazers, however, are not complaining.
The Blazers were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the South Carolina Bombers to advance to the Divisional Championship.
Bloomington won the final game by a 6-0 count at Bomber Ballpark and the series 4-1.
Blazers left fielder Roger Barrett was named series MVP, as he hit .381 with a .409 on-base percentage. He added 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"It's not going to be the last time South Carolina makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Barrett said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."
The Bloomington Blazers will play against the Maple Marauders in the next round. Maple had a bye in the Divisional Round. The Divisional Championship schedule will be announced after the Divisional Round finishes.
