Already down in the Divisional Round, the South Carolina Bombers put on their best show, beating the Bloomington Blazers by a final score of 5-0 today. Ángel Ruíz earned player of the game honors, as he threw 8 innings of shutout ball. South Carolina now trails Bloomington 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Ruíz, a native of Punta Cardón, Venezuela, was dealing all game. He kept Bloomington hitters off-balance, while giving the Bombers 8 quality innings. Ruíz threw 120 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 9.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ruíz told the South Carolina Chronicle.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Bomber Ballpark in Columbia. The scheduled starters for the game are Paul Barrett for Bloomington and Sotatsu Hayagawa for South Carolina.
