Vazquez Handcuffs Bombers, Blazers Seize 2-0 Advantage in R1
|
The Bloomington Blazers defeated the South Carolina Bombers, 4-1 in Game 2 of the Divisional Round today. Earning player of the game honors was starter Pedro Vazquez, who threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. The win moves Bloomington into a 2-0 lead in the series.
Vazquez, who leaned on his fastball, allowed 1 run on just 3 hits over 8 innings for the Blazers. For the most part, South Carolina hitters were simply overmatched.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Bloomington skipper Javier Ramírez. "I can't complain."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday. Slated to start are Landy Lu for Bloomington and Ángel Ruíz for South Carolina.
